Terms & Conditions

Little Legacies  ·  Last updated July 2026  ·  hello@littlelegacies.uk

These terms explain how we'll work together to create a memorial for your pet — what you can expect from me, and what I'll need from you. I've kept them as plain and gentle as I can, because losing an animal you love is hard enough without wading through small print.

1. Who We Are

Little Legacies is a pet-memorial website studio operated by Shelley Longden, based in the UK. By asking me to create a memorial, you agree to these terms.

2. The Memorial

Before any work begins, we'll go through what you'd like — the pet it's for, the photos and stories you'd like to include, the feel of it, and a rough timeline. There's never any rush, and the memorial is built around you and them.

Every memorial I create is bespoke, designed by hand, mobile-friendly, and delivered as a complete, working website with its own link to share.

3. Payment

A one-off fee covers the design and build of the memorial. The current options are Keepsake (£125) and Forever (£199). A deposit is required to begin, with the balance due before the memorial goes live. Work won't begin until the deposit is received.

Your first year of hosting and care is included in that one-off fee, so there's nothing more to pay in the first year.

After the first year, the Forever plan continues for a small care fee of £3/month, billed once a year as £36, which keeps the memorial online, looked after, and open for new messages. The Keepsake memorial is hosted free for life, with no ongoing fee at all.

Payment is accepted by invoice or secure card payment. By paying, you confirm you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy.

4. Photos, Words & the People in Them

Where you provide photographs, writing or other content, you confirm that you have the right to use them. If other people appear in the photographs, you confirm that they are happy to be included — or that you have made reasonable efforts to check.

You can ask me to remove or change any photo, word or detail on the memorial at any time, and I'll do it as soon as I can. If anyone featured ever asks to be removed, I'll honour that too.

5. Messages & Tributes

Some memorials let visitors leave messages and photos. These are moderated: an automatic filter screens out spam, and both you and I can remove any message at any time. I reserve the right to remove anything that is abusive, inappropriate or unlawful. If you'd ever like a message taken down, just ask.

6. Renewals & What Happens If a Renewal Isn't Paid

For memorials with an ongoing care fee, I'll send a friendly reminder before each yearly renewal. If a renewal isn't paid, here's exactly what happens — nothing is ever lost without warning:

A memorial on the free version stays online indefinitely at no cost, and can be fully restored at any time simply by renewing. If a custom web address has lapsed and you'd like it restored, any recovery cost charged by the domain registry is passed on to you — though in most cases a fresh web address can be set up at the standard small cost instead.

7. Web Address & Hosting

The Keepsake memorial is hosted on a free web address at no cost, with no expiry (for example, their-name.littlelegacies.uk). The Memorial and Forever plans include a custom web address (e.g. their-name.co.uk), renewed each year as part of the care fee. This covers standard domains costing up to £15/year; domains costing more than this will be discussed with you before renewal, and any extra cost passed on.

8. Looking After It, For the Long Term

I will host and care for your memorial for as long as Little Legacies is operating. If I ever had to close the business, I would give you reasonable notice and provide you with a complete copy of your memorial — every photo, video and word — so that nothing is ever lost, and you could keep it or host it elsewhere. Your memorial, and everything in it, always remains yours.

9. Cancellation & Refunds

As this is an online, made-to-order service, you have the right to cancel within 14 days and receive a full refund, as long as work has not yet begun. Because each memorial is designed by hand especially for you, when you submit your details and ask me to start, you'll confirm that you're happy for work to begin straight away. From that point your deposit is non-refundable, as it covers the design work already underway. Anything you've paid above the deposit will still be refunded if you cancel before the memorial is finished, less a fair amount for any work already done. If you're ever unhappy, please just talk to me. I'll always try to put things right.

10. Using Your Memorial as an Example

I will never show your pet's memorial as an example of my work without your clear permission. Any memorial featured on the Little Legacies website appears only with the family's blessing.

11. Liability

I take great care building and maintaining every memorial, but I cannot be held liable for losses arising from website downtime, third-party service outages, or events outside my control. My total liability in any dispute is limited to the amount paid for the memorial.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you have any questions at all about these terms, please email me at hello@littlelegacies.uk — I'm always happy to talk things through gently.
