Your privacy matters. This policy explains what personal information I collect, why I collect it, and how I look after it. I've kept it as plain and straightforward as possible.

I only collect information you give me directly. This includes:
Memorials naturally contain photographs and videos, which may include living people as well as the pet. When you provide content, you confirm that anyone else who appears in it is happy to be included, or that you have made reasonable efforts to check. If anyone featured would like to be removed, I will always honour that — just let me know.
You can ask me to remove any photo or video from a memorial at any time, for any reason, and I'll take it down promptly. The same goes for anyone featured in a photo who would like it removed.
I use your information only to:
My lawful bases for using your information are fulfilling our agreement to create and host your memorial, and, where relevant, your consent (for example, before I ever feature a memorial as an example of my work).
I will never sell or rent your information to anyone. The only people I ever share it with are the trusted service providers listed in the next section, who help me run the service, and no one else. I'll also never use your information for marketing without your permission.
To run the service I use a small number of trusted third-party providers. Each has their own privacy policy:

If you'd like a memorial closed, or your data deleted, just ask and I'll do so promptly.
If I ever have to close the business, I'll give you reasonable notice and a complete copy of your memorial — every photo, video and word — so nothing is ever lost. Your personal data would then be deleted. It would never be sold or passed to anyone else.

I handle all personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. If you're ever unhappy with how I've handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
When you first visit, you'll see a cookie banner where you can choose Accept or Essential only. You can change your mind at any time using the small "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom-left of any page.
Essential cookies (always on, no consent needed): Cloudflare may set basic technical cookies required to serve the site — these do not track you personally. If a memorial is password-protected, one functional cookie is set once you enter the password, so you don't have to type it again on every page. It holds no personal information and is never used for tracking.
Optional cookies (only with your consent): If you choose Accept, a Meta (Facebook) Pixel loads, which sets cookies such as _fbp to help me understand how visitors find Little Legacies and to measure the performance of Facebook/Instagram adverts. A Google Ads tag also loads, which sets cookies such as _gcl_au to measure the performance of Google adverts. Microsoft Clarity also loads, which records anonymised visitor behaviour (such as scrolling and clicks) and sets cookies such as _clck and _clsk, so I can see how visitors actually use the site and improve it. None of these are loaded, and no such cookies are set, unless you accept. Meta's, Google's and Microsoft's own privacy and cookie practices are described in their Meta privacy policy, Google privacy policy and Microsoft privacy statement.
If you choose "Essential only," your choice is remembered on this device and no optional cookies are set.
If I make any significant changes to this policy I'll update the date at the top of this page.
